Yeah, I saw some weird stuff too. Like, articles suggesting poems (fine, whatever, poetry’s okay, I guess), and then BAM, “HAVING A BAD DAY?? Watch This Funny Video By Cat Tuber: [link]”. A cat tuber? Seriously? And then there’s the whole “how fake do you want your video to be?” thing… it’s like, are people *actually* recommending embracing the absurdity of obviously staged content to feel better? Kinda messed up, right?
Then I saw some stuff about deepfakes. Like, WHAT. You’re already feeling down and someone suggests you watch a video where someone’s face is digitally slapped onto someone else’s body? That sounds like a recipe for existential dread, not happiness. I mean, sure, the tech is cool, but when you’re wallowing in self-pity, do you really need a reminder that reality itself is becoming increasingly malleable and potentially fabricated? I think not.
And then the Brazil thing with Mr. Beast? Okay, I get it, Mr. Beast does good stuff. But suggesting a random YouTube video to cheer someone up feels… generic. Like, “Oh, you’re sad? Here’s a video! Problem solved!” Um, no. Sometimes you need chocolate, a hug, or maybe just to scream into a pillow. Not necessarily a random video.
